Why do people tend to believe in conspiracy theories and propaganda?

In today’s realities of uncertainty and lack of stability, people are constantly confronted with various conspiracy explanations for events. But why does one believe conspiracy theories?

Olha Lazorko, Doctor of Psychology, explains why do people are influenced by conspiracy theories and propaganda. In her lecture, Olha talks about the psychological mechanisms that influence our belief in conspiracy theories; about their impact on Ukrainians during the russian full-scale invasion in Ukraine. The psychologist also gives advice on how to continue to think critically during a crisis, take care of one’s own mental state and protect oneself from propaganda.
